Efficiency Ratings
SEER is a measure which describes the amount of energy consumed to operate a cooling system given as a seasonal average. The higher the SEER rating, the better.
EER is the old way which describes the energy consumed at peak capacity.
The reason SEER is the standard measure now is that one of the main ways that higher efficiency is achieved is by having multi-stage cooling. This is done by either having a compressor capable of operating a different capacities based on the current need or by actually having separate compressors which will operate depending on the load on the system.
The Trane XL16i is an example of a two stage scroll compressor which can operate at different speeds while the XL20i achieves staged cooling capacity by having two compressors. In the future we will be seeing variations on this technology as well as new ideas which will bring the efficiency levels ever higher.
The federal government as of January 2006 has mandated that all new systems produced are designed to achieve 13 SEER or better. The government has also put in place tax rebates to encourage consumers to install higher efficiency units. 14 SEER for package units and 15 SEER for split systems. Visit Energy Star to get full details on what systems qualify and for how much. In 2015, the minimum efficiency standards will change again.
Heating is measured by HSPF or COP rating for heat pumps and furnaces are described
by their percentage of efficiency or AFUE.
Indoor Air Quality
Studies have shown that indoor air quality can be up to five times worse than outdoor air. Air filtration has become more and more a concern and the industry has continued to explore better ways to clean the air inside your home. There are a variety of options available which range from an upgraded media filter similar to the pleated filters which are available at most home supply stores to electronic air cleaners more efficient than a HEPA filter.

Warranty Information
Most current equipment is covered with a minimum of a five year warranty but many products come with a ten year warranty on parts and extended warranties are available to cover the labor for ten years as well. With a ten year parts and labor warranty and a basic preventative maintenance agreement in place, it would be reasonable to expect to have no out of pocket expenditures on a system for the life of the warranty. All American will warranty our work for two years on all labor related to equipment we have installed. We also offer a lifetime workmanship warranty.
Quality Installation
When we come to your home to do an installation we know that it is important
that we keep your family and home safe and protected. When we arrive we
take the extra time to put down drop cloths and make sure that we minimize
any damage to your home during the tear out and install. When we are finished
we also take the time to clean up after ourselves and each of our trucks
carries a vacuum cleaner so we leave your home cleaner than when we arrived!
Our technicians participate in continuing education programs in the spring
and fall so we are always abreast of the latest changes in technology. All
American is also a Trane Comfort Specialist Dealer. As a comfort specialist
we participate in a customer survey program and we must maintain a 95% customer
satisfaction and referral rating.
