Where do allergies come from?

Allergies are basically unavoidable. They can be triggered from all sorts of objects such as pets and dust. Common indoor allergens are caused by mold spores, pollen, fabrics, and different types of bugs like cockroaches (gross, I know). If you see that your allergies are worse in the morning or nighttime, it may be due to dust mites lurking in your bedding.

The reason you have allergies is because your body sees these objects as a threat, causing an immune response to protect itself. It is possible that your body can get over an allergy. You could have been born with allergies, as well. Also, you can develop new allergies overtime. Can’t tell if it is a cold or an allergy? Cold or flu-like symptoms last approximately 7-10 days, whereas allergies come and go as they please.

How can I prevent allergies?

If you have a major allergy, keep an epi-pen with you at all times. Unsure what is causing your allergy symptoms? Keep a diary. That way every time you have a flare up, you can potentially narrow down what the triggers are.

If you’re allergic to pollen, limit your time outside in fall and spring. Allergic to pet dander? There are two choices. First, don’t pet them! I know, it’s very difficult to keep your hands to yourself when a fluffy puppy is rubbing against you, but don’t do it. Otherwise, if you can’t resist the snuggles, build up your tolerance. The first few times of being around an animal will turn you into a snot monster. Stick with training your body and soon enough, those negative symptoms will go away.

Turmeric and curcumin can also help with asthma and allergies. Curcumin comes from the Corcuma Longa plant which contains this powerful antioxidant. Studies have shown that turmeric and curcumin have impeccable health benefits. Check out this article to see how turmeric and curcumin can help you.
